Everyone has heard the story about
the creation of Israel. So why bother researching this topic? The answer is curiosity: as an American taxpayer, I cannot comprehend, why, over the past sixty-six years, hundreds of billions of Americans tax dollars have flowed out of the USA, into the State of Israel? Moreover, much of the history and
origins of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict occurred long before I was born, and long before the creation of Israel!

The Land Of Canaan
No
other part of the world has had as much of a positive and negative impact on
global affairs as the Land of Canaan. Much of the
modern knowledge about the land of Canaan stems from archaeological excavation in former Canaan areas. These Canaan
areas roughly
correspond to the current day Palestinian Territories, Israel, Lebanon, the
western parts of Jordan, and Syria.
The
Land of Canaan was and is populated by Canaanite people of Mesopotamian,
Hebrew, and Arab origins, with each ethnic group possessing an assortment of
cultures, dynasties, languages, and religions. This truly multi ethnic and
multicultural area fluctuated between periods of war and prosperity. During the
past 100 years, it has been an era of immigration, displacement, violence, and
oppression.
The Jewish Promised Land
The
books of Numbers and Deuteronomy, within the Hebrew Bible, describe the
“Israelites” conquest of the land of Canaan in 1000 BC. This biblical account
has become the basis of Jewish claims to the land of Canaan-Palestine, which is
also referred to as the Jewish Promised Land. Canaan and the Canaanite people
are mentioned throughout the Hebrew Bible, mostly in the Pentateuch
and the books of Joshua
and Judges.
Canaan first appears as one of Noah's
grandsons, cursed with perpetual slavery because his father Ham had
"looked upon" the drunk and naked Noah; God later promised Canaan's
land to Abraham and eventually delivered it to the Israelites.
However, Hebrew Biblical history has become increasingly problematic, by
archaeological and textual evidence supporting the thought that the early “Israelites”
were in fact themselves Canaanites. This is better explained below, under Biblical
versus Scientific archaeology. Moreover, a significant
amount of time was devoted to identifying the period when the ancient
Israelites ruled. I could only identify a period of
about 300 years, where a Kingdom of David existed as a “City-State”, inhabited by ancient Hebrew Canaanites/Israelites.
Furthermore, this ancient Kingdom-City-State
was forcibly conquered by Islamic-Arabs about 1200 years ago, and the Hebrew Israelites
exited and never returned.
The Land Of Palestine
The region of Palestine is
geographically located between Egypt, Syria, and Arabia, and represents the historical
birthplace of Judaism and Christianity.

In ancient times, this Semitic speaking region was among the earliest in the world to see human habitation, agricultural communities, and civilization. During the Bronze Age, independent Canaanite City-States were established, and were influenced by the numerous surrounding civilizations of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Minoan, Crete, and Syria. In the 330s BCE, Macedonian ruler Alexander the Great conquered the region, and the region changed hands several times during later Wars. During this period, the name Palestine appeared. The Islamic Empire conquered Palestine in 634 CE, during the Middle Ages. In 636 CE, during the battle of Yarmouk, the Muslim conquest of Syria completed the Muslim takeover of the region known as Palestine. The Semitic speaking Canaanite people continued to live, collaborate, and prosper in the Land of Palestine, as multicultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious communities.

In modern times, Arabs of
the Islamic religion continued too populate the land of Palestine. Palestine
has been conquered numerous times by different Arab authorities, most notably
the Ottoman Empire. The end of the 19th century saw the beginning of
Jewish Zionist immigration to Palestine, and the revival of the ancient Hebrew
language. This movement was publicly supported by Great Britain during World
War One, with the Balfour Declaration of 1917. The British secured Jerusalem in
December 1917, and were formally awarded the “mandate to govern Palestine”
in 1922. The Arab-Islamic-Palestinians revolted in 1920, 1929, and 1936.
Biblical versus Scientific Archaeology
The history of this region
is derived from two principle sources, ancient biblical scriptures, and archaeological
excavations. It’s important to note that two different
archaeological approaches have emerged: Biblical archaeology and Syro-Palestinian archaeology. Mainstream
scientific archaeologists see the hard data from excavations as being incompatible
with the “historical Biblical record”, and have disagreed with archaeologists
who consider Biblical scriptures to be legitimate historical documents. This

Biblical Archaeology: involves the recovery and
scientific investigation of the material remains of ancient cultures that can
clarify the periods and descriptions in the old and new testaments Bible
scriptures. The principle location of interest for this branch of the
archaeological sciences is what is known in the relevant religions as the
Holy Land. There are many points of view regarding the exact extent of
this region, however, biblical archaeology specifically concentrates on “the Land of Israel”, Palestine, and
Jordan.

Syro-Palestinian
Archaeology: Modern archaeologists and historians of the region refer
to their field of study as Syro-Palestinian
archaeology. Syro-Palestinian archaeology is also commonly used when the area of inquiry
centers on ancient Palestine. The geographical scope of Syro-Palestinian
archaeology includes ancient southern-central Syria and Palestine, both west
and east of the Jordan River, or what was once known as ancient “Greater Canaan”. In modern-day
boundaries, Greater Canaan comprises
the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
The History of Zionism
The
Zionist movement began in the late eighteen seventies through the emergence of

A few of these Jewish people may have been able to trace their ancestors back to the land of Canaan. However, most of these Jewish people were Europeans and Russians, who adopted the Jewish religion and culture. A second major role of the World Zionist Organization has been the protection of the State of Israel through support for the Israel Defense Forces, by lobbying for American tax dollars and Military Weapons. Today, Zionism has transformed into the right-wing Likud Party, whose main goal is to evolve Israel into a 100% pure Jewish State, in the former land of Palestine.

This argument is self-serving NONSENSE! In fact, the State of Israel is one thing, while the Jewish religion and culture is something else. Anti-Zionism: European Jewish Zionists coveted the Land of Palestine for over 100 years! After WWII and the Nazi-Holocaust, masses of Jewish people immigrated from Europe and Russia into Arab-Islamic-Palestine. When they arrived in Palestine, they forced the State of Israel upon the native Arab-Islamic people of Palestine. Anti-Semitism: Judaism is a global religion and culture! The Jewish National Fund
The
Jewish National Fund (JNF) was founded at the Fifth Zionist Congress in Basel
in 1901. Their mission was to buy and develop land in Ottoman Palestine, which
later became the British Mandate for Palestine, and subsequently became the
Palestinian territories and Israel. The Jewish National Fund (JNF) is a
quasi-government, non-profit organization. In 1909, the JNF played a central
role in the founding of Tel Aviv, the existing capital of Israel. In the early
1950’s, JNF land purchases were completed in Judea and the Lower Galilee. The Jewish National Funds (JFN) official
statement defining its role in Israel declares - “The JNF, being an owner of land, is not a public body that works
for the benefit of all citizens of the state Israel. The loyalty of the JNF is given
to only the Jewish people.” The JNF, as the owner of the JNF land in Israel, does not have a duty
to practice equality towards all citizens of the state.

Some critics claim that many forests were planted over the bulldozed lands of abandoned Arab villages, and that JNF reclamation of these lands has deliberately erased the Arab presence in Palestine prior to 1948! In 2008, the JNF announced that historical information plaques would be erected in JNF parks and forests with the names of the Arab villages formerly located there.

The Lands Of Missing Persons: A proposal submitted by former Israeli education minister, and Israeli law
scholar, Amnon Rubinstein, recommended that a
distinction be made between lands purchased by the Jewish National Fund (JNF),
and State of Israel lands. JNF lands (900 km2
equaling 31%) being directly purchased via global donations specifically for
the benefit of the Jewish people. State of Israel Lands (2,000 km2
equaling 69%) being lands purchased in the 1950s, by the JNF, from the new State
of Israel, which formerly belonged to missing Palestinian refugees! These
so-called "lands of missing persons"
or "absentee lands”
would return to State of Israel control. Amnon Rubinstein's
intention was to avoid passing legislation that would limit the use of these former
lands to “only Jewish people”. The Rubinstein proposal was never taken up!
The Balfour Declaration: The Origins of the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict
During the year of 1917, a vigorous Anti-Zionist movement within the British Parliament was led by Edwin S. Montagu, the British secretary of state for India, which held up the progress of the planned Balfour declaration. Edwin S. Montagu was the second Jewish person to enter the British Cabinet. Montagu was strongly opposed to Zionism, which he called "a mischievous political creed". Anti-Zionists feared that British-sponsored Zionism would threaten the status of Jews who had settled in various European and American cities, and encourage anti-Semitic violence in the countries battling Britain in WWI, especially within the Ottoman Empire. This opposition was overruled, however, and after soliciting—with varying degrees of success—the approval of France, the United States, and Italy (including the Vatican), Lloyd George’s government went ahead with its plan. On November 2, 1917, Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour wrote the following letter to Britain’s most renowned Jewish citizen, Baron Lionel Walter Rothschild, expressing the British government’s support for a Jewish homeland in Palestine.

Dear Lord Rothschild - I have much pleasure in conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty's Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations, which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet. "His Majesty's Government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country." I should be grateful if you would bring this declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation. Yours Sincerely, Arthur James Balfour.

The influence of the Balfour Declaration on the course of post WWI events was immediate: According to the "mandate system” created by the 1919 Treaty of Versailles, Britain was entrusted with the temporary administration of Palestine, with the understanding that it would work on behalf of both its Jewish and Arab inhabitants. Many Arabs in Palestine and elsewhere were angered by their failure to receive the nationhood and self-government they had been led to expect in return for their participation in the war against Turkey. In the years after WWI, the Jewish population in Palestine increased dramatically, along with the instances of Jewish-Arab violence!

Montagu’s
1917 response to British Anti-Semitism: This view is prompted by the receipt yesterday of a correspondence between Lord
Rothschild and Mr. Balfour. It is in this
atmosphere that the British Government proposes to endorse the formation of a
new nation in Palestine. This new nation
will presumably be formed of Jewish citizens of all nations. Zionism
has always seemed to be a mischievous political creed, untenable by any
patriotic citizen of the United Kingdom, and inconsistent with British
citizenship. Perhaps English citizenship must also be granted only
as the result of a religious test. With this memorandum, I
lay down with emphasis, four principles: 1.) I assert
that there is not a Jewish nation. 2.) When the
Jews are told that Palestine is their national home, every country will
immediately desire to get rid of its Jewish citizens, and you will find a Jewish
population in Palestine driving out its present Arab inhabitants. 3.) I deny that
Palestine is today associated with the Jews or properly to be regarded
as a fit place for them to live in. It is quite true that Palestine plays a
large part in Jewish history, but so it does in modern Islamic history, and,
after the time of the Jews, surely it plays a larger part than any other
country in Christian history. The Temple may have been in Palestine, but so were

The Holocaust
History tells us that Jewish people have been disliked and mistreated since the Roman Empire. This begs an important question, “why were the Jewish people, who comprised such a small percentage of the world’s population, so disliked and mistreated?”

Furthermore,
the Holocaust pictures became an important “rationalization” for another "Solution":
the creation of a new homeland for Jewish people - OUTSIDE OF EUROPE! On November 29, 1947, the United
Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 181, recommending the partition of
Palestine into a new Jewish State, a new Special International Regime for the
City of Jerusalem, and a new Arab State.
